Start Strong National Youth Virtual Conference

Start Strong National Youth Conference

It’s not you, it’s me … or is it?

Just about all of us have heard — or even said — this line as a way of ending a romantic relationship. But the fact remains there are so many ways to break the news to your soon-to be ex, is there really a way to make a clean and honest break? Is it ever okay to lie when ending a romantic relationship? Can you text him or her that it’s over, or do you have to do it in person? Can you just send them a message on Facebook? Is it really possible to be friends with your ex after a breakup?

One thing for sure is that not all relationships are created equal. The nature of how you handle a breakup has to do with how you experience a particular relationship; and ultimately it can become difficult to decide what’s best for you and how to break it off.
That’s why Start Strong will be hosting a Youth Virtual Conference, July 14, 2011 from 10:30am to 6:00pm at the Wichita State University Media Resource Center. Wichita Youth will be connected to 11 other Start Strong sites across the country to engage in conversations and workshops via live web cam about how to break up with your partner when you are in a healthy, romantic relationship.

This is an interactive virtual conference where youth will have the ability to see and communicate with the other Start Strong communities, participate in interactive workshops, discussion forums, and ultimately, the goal is to end it safely with the minimum blood loss, nastiness, and pain. When you finally decide to make the break, how do you actually go about doing it?

Breaking up is as important a skill as any other part of dating. It’s not fair to just disappear without a word. The world’s too small a place, and you’re too big a person. To apply, please submit below.
