TAP- October 24^th, 2011
Meeting Minutes

WELCOME BACK!!!!!  Lots of new faces!  Woohoo!

What worked last year?

·     Projects that everyone can participate in- everyone can have a job to help complete the task

·     Rebuild off the foundation we had last year

·     Liked writing the agenda on the big ole paper

·     Shared leadership, not one person in charge

·     Put our ideas on big paper- vote the top 3 events/activities we want to tackle and in what order (timeline)

What didn’t work??

·     Too much stuff !

This year we want to:

·     Tackle every middle school:  High school students shared some of their experiences while in middle school and felt that is where TAP could make the most difference

ü     What would that look like?

·     Improvs- skits- how can we tie in w our mission statement?  Skit about STD’s (a form of abuse, communicating about getting tested together, healthy relationship, TDV, did you consent???)

·     Issues in middle school- according to the students, middle school kids aren’t interested in much; they are interested in fighting, bullying- tap into the pop culture of MSchoolers!

Peer Hotline??- Zoe will think more about this and tell the group what she invisions next meeting

Education pieces?

·     What are you interested in learning about?

Internet predators, survivors, how to deal with stress, In Her Shoes training, suicide, CR club education piece, self harm, how people react differently in their home lives opposed to school…

·     Speakers- Horace, Tisha, Rob

Final Friday-

·     Will start promoting in schools in November- start brainstorming the best way to conquer this!

Blogging- We want YOUR BLOG!

·     All agreed to send me a blog about anything tied to our message!

·     Incentives to those who submit blogs!

Mission Statement-

Create personal statement- neat!  J  (what  are your two best personal qualities?)

YOU ALL ARE AWESOME!!!  LOVED THEM!!

TAP MISSION STATEMENT:

Teens empowering and inspiring other teens to stand up against violence through education and prevention!!!!!

Next meeting- November 8^th 5:30-7pm

Meet every other week? Must confirm with CCSR, Emily will do this.

Text reminders work!  Zoe could be in charge of that

Rachelle will create TAP FB page- all will participate- Emily will be the administrator
