On Choose Respect Groups
Recently I was approached by a boy who asked me “What does your Choose Respect group actually DO?” I talked the poor guys ear off responding with “Presentations about Suicide, anti-bullying, Teen Dating violence, cyber-bullying, etc. And all of those pledge cards in front of the Library? From Choose Respect. We Do anti-bullying movements, participate in a Teen Dating Violence Art crawl in February. Basically, we do a lot of activism and try to promote healthy relationships between everyone.”
Later on, it really struck me; our East High Choose Respect group does SO much! An East High graduate expressed to me how he thought we made a difference in the school, even after we had only existed for a year!
If your school does not have a Choose Respect group, I strongly encourage you to gather up some student leaders, seek out a sponsor and get connected! You would be amazed at what a difference a few students, who really care, can accomplish when they get together!
Over and Out!
