Upstander Month
Its that time of the year again! Busy, busy, busy gearing up for February which has officially been dubbed “Upstander Month”. Apparently “Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month” wasn’t cutting it, nor was TDV month.
Alas, Upstander Month is a good title for such an important month!
So what exactly IS Upstander Month? Well funny you should ask! Cause I have just the answer! It is the OFFICIAL month of Teen Dating Violence Prevention.
I promise some people didn’t just sit around a table and think “man I think February should be Teen Dating Violence Month!”. Nope Mr. Carl Brewer, the Mayor of Wichita Kansas declared it himself! So now, while we are feeling the love (or lack of love, sorry I’m in your boat as well), we can also be thinking of how we can spread the word of such an important topic.
At East High, our Choose Respect club is celebrating the month in a few different ways. The coolest thing to me is that we are selling roses and carnations and delivering them to students. Each rose will come with a cool bookmark that talks about a healthy VS unhealthy relationships look like. We are also doing some cool presentations!
BUT THE COOLEST AND BEST PART OF THE MONTH IS THE ART CRAWL. Which I will make you wait to read about. 
But save the last Friday of February (the 24th) for something awesome!!!!
